TRIP HIGHLIGHTS AND DESCRIPTION
Main destinations of the Grand City Tour of Valencia.
The first place we will visit is where it all started, in the old town of Valencia. A unique place in Valencia where you can ride through the narrow, winding streets of the city centre and soak up the history that sets this place. The important contribution of the Romans and the Arabs have added their culture to this vibrant city and Pelican tours will be happy to show you some of its jewels. Whether it is the Cathedral of Valencia, the Plaza de la Virgen, the Plaza de la Reina, the Town Hall of Valencia, the Palace of Marqués de Dos Aguas, the central market, the famous Lonja de Valencia, the Torres de Quart or the Puerta de los Serranos. This tour gives you the opportunity to see it all and learn about these interesting historical sites.
After enjoying the busy concrete jungle, we will take our bikes and head to the City of Arts and Sciences. We'll pedal along the unique Turia River, we also could not pedal and just enjoy our smart E-steps and look cool, but how can you ride along a river? That's a good question. The Turia River is actually the perfect place to ride our eco vehicles. There used to be water here, but as this river flooded the city many times, the government decided to divert it and make a park along the course of the old river. So this garden is the perfect place to discover Valencia by bike. Many exotic plants and trees grow in this 9 kilometres long park and it is the perfect place to enjoy a healthy exercise in the open air. So, in addition to Pelican Bike's bike tours, you will see soccer fields, jogging tracks and a variety of sports machines. But this park is not only used for sports, it is also a place for recreation and people like to gather here and enjoy a fun picnic in the sun.
The Grand City Tour of Valencia has a lot to offer
The main destination of this Valencia tour will be to the end of this beautiful park. The impressive buildings of the City of Arts and Sciences were built by Valencian architect Santiago Calatrava and Felix Candela. In 1996 the construction of this huge complex began, and in 2005 the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia, the last building of the 12 Treasures of Spain, was inaugurated. Now we can admire six different architectural gems on this bike tour. Whether it is the opera house and performing arts centre, the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia, the Imax l`Hemisfèric cinema, the Agora or l`Umbracle, a promenade and garden, you will enjoy the unique architecture of each building. The Príncipe Felipe Science Museum is a special place famous for its modern approach to science and the Oceanográfico is the number one attraction for many tourists every year. This aquarium is not just any aquarium, but allows you to travel through the main oceans and seas of the planet. In this huge aquatic world you can find sharks, Beluga whales, sea lions and manta rays, and it even has its own dolphin show. If you still have time left, you should not miss this Valencia attraction and pay a visit after your Valencia tour.
Would you like to extend your tour? There´s no problem. We could, also, go to the seaside; which is compared to Miami beach, maybe you cold tell better than us!
Valencia seaside, extends 9 km and it has a wide sand platform which is perfect for a busy city like Valencia.
Feeling like tasting Valencian traditional Orxata? Orxata is our refreshing non alcoholic drink made of Chufa (Tiger nut) it is vegetarian, raw and eco frindly, harvested few kilometers away.
Include it in our tour by simply asking at the counter once in the shop, we will take care of the rest.
If you are interested to learn more about Orxata culture, we recommend, also, to take a look in our Port Sa Playa Tour.
